A craft gin with the fragrance of the forest, created at the plant of a well-known traditional herbal liqueur in Japan.
We have a root in manufacturing herbal liqueurs starting from the 17th century.
Proud of their skills in botanical formulation, our professionals have now taken on the challenge of creating a gin that is unique to Japan but that the world will also love.
The meaning of KANOMORI is “a forest of fragrance.”
Its refreshing aroma and woody flavor, which makes the most of the fragrance of Kuromoji, an aromatic shrub that grows wild only in Japanese forests, gives a sense of the soul of Japan.

The blessings of forest and water that can specially be found in Nagano, which holds the Japan’s Alps.
Our plant is located at the foot of the majestic, almost 3,000-meter high peaks of Japan’s Central Alps. We took inspiration from the forest, where many plants flourish and crystal clear waters flow, and elevated it into a gin.

The harmony of botanicals and Kuromoji, which evokes sense of dignified solidity and a lingering finish
To highlight the flavor of Kuromoji, 18 botanicals were carefully selected from more than 100. Mixing the twigs, leaves, and branches of the Kuromoji shrub, we created a flavor that has a sense of dignified solidity, reminiscent of a tranquil forest, and a lingering sweetly spicy finish.

How to enjoy the fragrance of the forest
Drinking from a glass with a round base and a slightly tapered lip will help the aroma feel richer. Enjoy the aroma as its gradually blooms and changes, as well as the color as it whitens.
*As the alcohol content declines, the abundant aroma components separate and emulsify, giving the liquid a whitish color.

Complete extraction of the botanicals’ characteristics
KANOMORI makes use of three parts of the Kuromoji tree - its twigs, leaves, and thicker branches. To ensure that the characteristic fragrance and flavor of Kuromoji are drawn out completely, leaving nothing behind, KANOMORI is made by blending a liquid in which only the Kuromoji twigs have been added during distillation with another distilled liquid in which the botanicals have been steeped before distilling.

*Workers wear personal protective equipment and gloves during actual operations. They have been removed for the photograph.

Water refined by Komagane plateau
Distilled liquor that directly conveys the flavor of the water.
We make our gin with natural water pumped from underground water veins 150 meters down at the foot of Komagane plateau.
Refined by the granite of the Japan's Central Alps, and with a hardness of only about 18 mg/liter, this exceptionally soft water draws out the delicious flavors of the botanicals.

Original bottle with carvings of Kuromoji
The bottle, an original design with carvings of the Kuromoji plant, has been described as giving “a beautiful impression of clear expanse of forest from the very first glance.”
The label is cut into the shape of the ridgeline of the Japan's Central Alps.
It was awarded the Grand Prize at the 16th Glass Bottle Award in 2020.
